I've just resigned myself to the fact that I have to replace my headphones constantly. :/
Usually when they break, it's because they stop working rather than they just fall apart.
I always buy the same pair of Sony headphones with the big, foamy semi-sphere ear things. I think they look stupid, but I like how they block out all outside noise
