As you mentioned, the job market for EE is much broader, which makes it possible for you to look for a job that doesn't have much to do with analog devices. A lot of jobs with utility companies don't require much more than a knowledge of CAD and the ability to understand the basic electrical concepts. Half of the people that I work with couldn't tell you ohm's law to save their lives
