Best prices are from players. But the best-kept secret at the searing level of the game is to load up on Charr hides, then give them to the collector in Ascalon City for 1 fur square per 4 hides. Then, you can sell those to the rare materials trader for 350-400 apiece or to players for a bit more.

Materials in general are very useful. Buy 3 belt pouches or bags from the merchant to expand your inv by 15 slots (when you get money, you can get expansion runes from the merchants to add 5 slots to a bag/pouch). Also, take 2 salvage kits and 1 identify kit with you every time you leave town (and 1 expert salvage if you are rich like me ha ha am i right). Then, salvage everything you can't use, and it'll drop into a material type (swords turn into 1-4 iron ingots, etc.) Although there are a lot of material types, after you fill your 15 extra slots with those, salvaging crap will cause it to drop the materials into one of those 15 types, so you end up saving space. Materials are valuable as shit, too (in quantity), and you need them to have armor crafted for you. Don't sell weapons and armor to traders unless you can't salvage it and no-one else would ever want it.
