Just think of how you'd feel about your wife having that kind of relationship with a particularly close ex boyfriend of hers. I think she'd be hurt if she knew that all was going on, even without the making out. Sending pictures and flirting would make her feel just as bad. As a female who's caught a significant other in a situation VERY similar, it had broken my heart when I had found out. It's still a type of infidelity if you're even considering it. You're better off hurting your old girlfriend than your wife.
