Luke Cage, Hero For Hire was the first truly black hero. There were others before him, but they reportedly all acted like "crackers".
According to the IMDB, Nicholas Cage's real name (secret identity?) is Nicholas Kim Coppola, and he did take the Cage from Luke Cage. He verified this on the Tonight Show. Nick also lives in a fake castle in California.
