I've used my shield hearth before when I was farming in Swamp of Sorrows and I was about to get steamrolled by 5 horde. I've also used it for comedic purposes like Shield Hearthing from a duel outside of IF, only to run back outside and give all the warriors BoW!
*EDIT* on futher inspection Carnivore's got some cool sh*t, like that Skullflambe Shield and The Hammer of The Vespar. Don't know what shoulders you have though! :/
