Pretty much every Final Fantasy game (core and Tactics, but the other ones I don't care about) has been brilliant. They shouldn't stop until they start to suck. So far, they have yet to suck, and have only been some of the best games for any system they appear on.
"According to the Wikipedia article on SquareEnix, Enix stockholders did better than Squaresoft stockholders when the two companies merged. AND... I haven't enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since XIII. "
The shareholders of the company that is being taken over almost always do better than the shareholders of the company doing the take-over. It's just general business sense. When a company that is doing crappy is taken over by a good company, the crappy company is buoyed by the good companies investment. One the other hand, the shareholders of the good company wonder why the hell they're buying a crappy company. Happens all the time.
