I debated that with myself all the way up to the point that I was in the damn thing, but it's irrelevant as that was the only TDI Golf on the lot. It's an automatic with tiptronic semi-manual mode. The manual mode is kinda strange though. It won't let you shift sometimes if it thinks you really shouldn't be shifting, and it'll autoshift on you if you try to redline or kill it.
