I suspect that you hate it not because of it's quality, but merely because it's a trendy "cult" flick. (I use the term loosely.)

Personally, I didn't think it was THAT great, but that didn't change the fact that it was new and interesting. I don't care how many American History X fans fawn over it, I still like Donnie Darko.
