What turns me off about RPGs is that most of them have a medieval theme that I'm not too crazy about, what with armor, swords, magic, castles, and stuff. Earthbound is great because you're kids in the '90s going through actual cities with pizza shops and department stores and trying destroy aliens, creepy cults, possessed tents, and hieroglyphics.
