The only good remake made was Super Mario All-Stars and it wasn't for the graphical updates (although they were polished well) but the fact it compiled all the games in one (I think they added Super Mario World to it at one point or maybe that is just a rom hack
).
I wish they included the classic versions as well.
Oh and a 3D version of this game would probably look ugly ala the New Zelda. I didn't think the game was that great to begin with, but that's me.
