ya know, my mom was with a guy like this for 10 years and when she finally got away she wondered why she didn't do it sooner. It may be difficult to try to get everything organized b/c you want to tie up loose ends before you leave if you plan on it but I say don't wait, just leave, things will work themselves out and I suggest going to someone's house you can trust (preferably a 6'5" former pro-nfl player) in case he snaps when you leave. Don't let someone scare you into staying with them and don't "put up" with someone. If you call it "putting up" with, it's not worth it and it's not mutual love.
