Every volcano documentary I see contains at least one cantankerous old bastard who refuses to leave his house and ends up buried alive in ash and rubble at the end.

One on National Geographic had the scientists die at the end. You see them go up the volcano and then nothing...then there's this postscript that said they fell through the crust and were incinerated, or something like that. That'd be a bad way to go.
