They can't do much Legally, but the could for instance, uncover where some of these leaks are coming from, or prompt the Journalists getting these leaks to dig a little further.
The French can be very pissy, but would it surprise anyone if their did turn out to be a Bush administration dissinformation strategy against the French as some sort of reprisal?
