I see it as just one way in which a larger personality problem, specifically obsessive-compulsive behavior, can manifest itself ... one aspect of a bigger problem. If it isn't annorexia, I'm sure they would display some other irrational behavior they couldn't control. Perhaps vanity has a little to do with the way that their obsessiveness manifested itself but that's not really getting at the root of the problem. It's certainly no reason to get angry with that person. I think it's just sad.
