I had four of them, all impacted. I'm a goddamn neanderthal. They sliced open my gums, and I still have some weird feeling holes there today. I got one dry socket, which means the clot got popped and I didn't wake up until I swallowed enough blood to make me puke. Then food would get stuck in the hole, so I'd be washing out rotten meat with a syringe full of water. Did I mention that I was allergic to the painkillers? So I spent a week alternating between agonizing pain and uncontrollable vomiting
Oh, and some people "wake up" during the procedure. They can feel the yanking and the slicing and every ounce of pain, but they're blind, mute and paralyzed.
