The .com bubble proved that. During the boom you didn't need anything to prove you had the skills. You just had to use them and poof a raise and a promotion. Now that the bubble has popped all these people with real world experience can't find a job. And many of the younger ones don't get it. The mindset here is nutty as hell.
22 year olds that wouldn't wait tables or answer phones because their last job paid 80k are now back home with mom and dad because the good jobs eventually got all snapped up. And now that they realize the world doesn't really work that way they are out of luck.
