I thought the movie ending was way better than the book ending. I fucking hated he ending of the book because no one argued with Ozymandias in any intellectual way.

Giant alien attack on Earth was totally unearned. it was totally random and not well elaborated at all. It reminds me of the story of the gunner trapped in the bottom turret of a WWII bomber and the way he ends up being saved is "magical" balloon tires he makes with his imagination so the plane doesn't have to make a belly landing. That's fucking stupid and you give the audience no reason to believe that's going to happen.
But more over, How long do you think you're gonna scare two nation on the brink of war with one isolated alien attack? it's only as much of a bandaid as scaring people with big blue. I cannot stand that when 'the smartest man in the world' comes up with a completely fallable logic, 3 people nod and agree and the other throws a hissy fit and runs out into the snow.

I know I bitch about this all the time, but it is my only beef with the entire book.
And the music in the movie was hilariously out of place. I don't understand why the entire soundtrack was constructed from my high school soccer coaches 'hit's of the 60's' iTunes playlist.
