I really liked the relationship that Dexter built with Arthur, it was done so much better than with Miguel. Actually, in comparison with any of the other seasons, I think this relationship had the most depth.

Killing Rita may have closed their relationship as an avenue of development, but over the course of four seasons it had probably run its course. How many times could they do the troubled relationship bit before it became formulaic? Now Dexter really has a chance to show his character as a forensic analyst, serial killer, and single dad. Despite the fact that he acts a good father, he's not close to the kids. He can't be. Everything that he does with Astor and Cody seems really fake, despite being what a good father would do. It'll be interesting to see how he maintains the facade next season. |
