A producer's job is simple: get a spiffy, important looking title on the movie in exchange for putting up a bunch of cash.
So unless I can find a few rich people to really help fund my project, I'm guessing I'm gonna have hundreds/thousands of "producers"
As for your fears of taking on the project without having any prior experience. Fuck 'em. It's your vision, you should do whatever you want. Hell, whenever I get my zombie project off the ground, I'll be a lot more than just "writer/producer" or whatever. And I guarantee you, one of my titles on the film will be "Janitorial Services (ie: puke cleaner-upper)".
All I need is to find some rich people who will help fund the damned thing.
