Every time I see kahl or someone in a dress, I think about the old Iggy Pop story about how he was arrested for wandering down Hollywood Boulevard or Sunset Boulevard or someplace like that, wearing a dress and holding a bottle of Ripple. It was the Ripple he was picked up for, not the dress. But they said, "Are you wearing a woman's dress?" And he said, "I beg to differ, this is a man's dress."


I found that to be a very dignified answer.
