Actually, I heard them telling each other that it didn't look good and you'd be amazed how fast that snaps you out of a sound sleep. Turned out they were talking about someone in the next room, but hearing a nurse whisper "it doesn't look good" to another one jolted me right the hell up.

It was weird, most of my surgeries have anesthesia that has an amnesia quality...like blink, and they're telling you it's over. This felt more like drifting off for a nap and waking up from one.

I had to drink a bottle of water and a container of apple juice and some sort of clear mindfuck gatorade that tasted like berries, and then they realized I wouldn't puke all over the place and sent me home.
