Marriage has a list of benefits to society a mile long, nothing wrong with encouraging that. I agree the government should have no involvement with the relgious institution of marriage, though. Church and state, y'know. Any 2 people should be able to enter into a contract similar to marriage after a determined period of cohabitation. Religious marriage should be a completely different thing left to the churches.
