Newbies are always welcome to the board, it wouldn't grow without them. But too many newbies try too hard to be funny instead of just being themselves, and that's where they get into trouble. And yes, quite often there is a little bit of newbie "hazing" of sorts... but you don't exactly have to have an incredibly thick skin to withstand it.
