Heres why I like it:
1. The style: Its really unique and fun to watch even when its hard to tell whats going on. Sort of like an animated piece of art.
2. The themes: The show, beneath the sub-par science fiction plot, is really about being a kid in a world full of and run by adults. I like watching Naota try to deal with his brother's girlfriend using him as a replacement boy, and Haruko playfully trying to seduce him, all when hes only 12 years old.
3. The music: All done by the Japense band, "The Pillows". It really complements the show, especially the "I think I Can" song in episode 6.
4. Voice acting: In both the Japenese and American version its perfect. I couldn't imagine a better dad, Haruko, or Naota.

Meh. I just don't care for it because I went in expecting it to be this funny/weird romp, and not an artsy, coming-of-age story. An anime version of the Breakfast Club, if you will.
Also, the guys that make the Adult Swim cards made a crack about it being better than Excel Saga. Of course, that's coming from the same network that calls DBZ "the best action cartoon on the planet."
