I didn't get that vibe from this at all, though, and that's something I look for in these crowdsourcing things. The goal of an economical, open ARM-based game console isn't a lofty one. People are building these cheap, low-power boards all over the place, (see: Beagle Board, Raspberry Pi.) As I understand it, most of the work is going to be in the software portion - the interface, the content delivery system, etc. and they seem to have people with a pedigree in such things. The design is being worked on by the dude who designed the Kindle., for instance.

My issue would be long term support. Who the fuck is going to make games for this thing. It runs on the Tegra 3 chipset, which people are making games for anyway, and I don't really have a huge background in programming games, but it would seem to me that scaling certain features up for use on a television wouldn't involve too much difficulty. But there could be more issues there than I could ever realize.

I pledged because I want a box to tinker with and it's reasonably priced. The quality of the materials is probably going to be a different matter, though. I'm sure the controller is going to feel like ass.
