There is the intrinsic value of an item that is made up of the cost of it's creation, and then there is the market value of an item which means it is worth whatever anyone can be tricked into paying for it.
I would put the value of a drawing of a sad, crying clown in an iron lung as quite high in monetary terms.
PS: MLE you should start the art competitions again. If not regularly, then at least sometimes. If you felt like it.
