If the occasional failure of a social program is enough to discredit it as legitimate, then what gives us the right to try to establish democracy in the Middle-East? Has not democracy resulted in civil wars and economic depression in our nation?
No plan is foolproof. That's why you stave off fools for as long as you can before they overtake things. Then you change the plan and stave them off for as long as you can.
