That's my point, even by Bond standards it makes no sense.
Spoilers! |
They stole the "HE WANTED US TO CATCH HIM" scene from dark knight. At least in dark knight it made some sort of sense in terms of the character's motives, but in Bond it's just there because they thought it would be cool. From there, the scenes preceding it fall apart. His plan to be caught hinges on Bond going to China, managing to kill the sniper guy and figuring out where that casino chip is from. He then has to beat all those guys in a fight (and not get eaten by dragons), and agree to go along with that woman to that island, then the villain has to hope Bond tries to escape with the gun he gives him and doesn't kill him instead of taking him prisoner.
Probably the dumbest part of the film is the way that his original assassination attempt on M involved him walking into the middle of a crowded court room and shooting her, where presumably she's heavily body guarded. Again, they're going for the "suicidal villain" thing like in dark knight, but it blows.
I also hate the way that Q the hacker (the action movie equivalent of the wizard) is able to "create a digital trail" for javier bardem to follow, but that MI6 aren't able to say, provide more guys / more weapons to hide out at the farm. |
It's terrible. I'm a life long bond fan and accept the bullshit like say, the underground train crashing through the tracks at the exact moment that the bad guy wants it to etc, but the basic plot needed heavy rework.
