Here's a list of some of my all time favorite graphic novels (ugh, I hate that goddamn term):
Hard Boiled
Moebius
Anything by Enki Bilal
Valérian and Laureline (I don't even know how many goddamn albums there are)
Judge Dredd albums, if you can call them graphic novels
The Ballad of Halo Jones (don't know why, but I thought it was a batshit awesome trilogy)
Inspector Canardo series by Benoit Sokal (come on, there was no such thing as furries back then, so it's alright to like it)
Pretty much anything by Ralf König (if you don't mind over the top homosexuality in your comics)

As you can see, I'm a sucker for European and especially French comics.

Also, you should check out anything you can find by this finnish guy named Petri Hiltunen (except the Väinämöinen series, it sucks), but i don't know if any of his stuff has been translated. My favorite stuff from him is his Praedor series and the Oath to the Sun (or something, it's called Vala Auringolle in finnish) book.
