In developing search engines for China, Google and Yahoo are working for the Chinese government, which runs the Internet over there. The client always gets what they want in software development, so if they say we don't want certain things in it, then that's what they get or Google doesn't get any money for the service that they provide. Google refused to alter the results after the googlebombing because they wanted to be objective, even though it was more of an act of vandalism that in no way enhances a search engine.
Howeve,r they will alter search results for words like 'tiananmen square' and 'dalai lama,' for China.
