It occured to me recently that I might be too sarcastic. I realized this when I realized that I don't think more than 20 percent of everything I say is serious. And that 20 percent includes regular, daily banter. Just about everything that comes out of my mouth is facetious.
This past year, the most common complaint I read about my column was "I can't tell if he's joking or not." Although I would like to think that people would have the good sense to realize that someone writing a humor column is probably joking, the fact remains that every single thing I wrote was extremely sarcastic and entirely indecorous, in a sarcastic way.
