The Audition

Has anyone seen this? its japanese. its about a widowed middle-aged man who holds "auditions for a movie" when he is really looking for someone talented to marry. the lady he chooses turns out to be a pyschotic killer. Some parts are really disturbing.

I've never seen it, but all I've heard is how disturbing it is. This doesn't surprise me, coming from the Japanese....

i have the dvd. i haven't watched it in a year or so, which says a bit about it's reply value, but it's a really cool movie to check out. more of a rental, i'd have to say.
and it's nowhere near as disturbing as you probably think it is.

It's supposed to be a horror movie but it's not scary. Compared to the level of pure disturbance in some of Miike's other films, it's pretty tame. For a slightly more disturbing film by the same guy check out Ichi The Killer.
