Attention Old Ass Genesis Fans

I guess if you were anything like me back in the day, when Sonic and Knuckles came out for the Genesis, you were pretty thrilled that you could basically make a whole new game out of Sonic 2 and 3 by playing through it as Knuckles.

But then you come to the profound disappointment that it just plain doesn't work with the original Sonic game.

Well..... after years of thinking about what could've been, I stumbled upon a fan-made hack that puts Knuckles into Sonic 1, and after trying it out it seems to work perfectly!

I normally don't post links like this (except in the ROM link posty) but I figure there might just be enough old school nerds around here to justify it.

I'd say that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was my fave, but holy shit, Stealth has made the grade. Can you become Super Knuckles is my question though.

Sniper, if you put in code #1, you can if you get all the chaos emeralds, although you don't flash. If you put in code #2, you have the power immediately. To activate it, you need at least 50 rings, then you hit jump while jumping and you'll turn on invincibility until you run out of rings.

Very nice hack although 99% of it is just copied code. The creator seems like quite a cantankerous faggot from his conduct on that forum, though. WAAAH WAAAH I DON'T WANT INPUT JUST BLOWJOBS THANKS.

That's kinda strange considering in the cart version you couldn't get Super Sonic ( I managed to get all the emeralds but was dissapointed), but then again that was probably added on for the hack.

Anyways, I didn't notice his bitching (I musta missed that part). I'm just amazed that he got down Knuckles abilities easily, and smoothly.

You couldn't get Super Sonic in the first one, just in 2, 3 and S&K. Getting all emeralds in Sonic 1 meant that you didn't see Robotnik juggling the emeralds you missed :/

Copied code and cantankerous faggotry aside, I suppose I was willing to overlook it seeing as how I haven't the know-how to hack the ROM myself, and for making a childhood wonder come true. I figure I might not like the guy but I'll sure as hell play his hacked ROM for it.

That was fucking stupid in Sonic and Knuckles 3 when you get all the chaos emeralds and then go to the new chaos emerald stages and lose your ability to become Super Sonic, and Knuckles.

I like how you have to put in a code to turn on 'super knuckles' ability because it ruins the whole 'pure sonic 1' thing, but he comes with the spin dash out of the box, which you couldn't do in sonic 1 either.

Whoa, I had no idea (I had gotten all but fucking ONE emerald). I had this computer collection of Sonic and Knuckles 3 (with all the music remixed, which sucked), and there was one super emerald I could never get They could have at least lemme use Super Sonic, or Knuckles, while I was trying to get the super chaos emeralds or whatever they are called. Good work getting the last emerald, though.

I thought when you turned yellow in the opening intro to the Angel Island Zone, it was some color glitch. I didnt find about what the emeralds did until 1997, I think.

If you're really that big a megafag for Sonic specifically that message board alone is the right place for you then. Although the only hack I DL'ed that I liked was S1K, they have others like Tails in Sonic 1 if you poke around long enough.
