I loved the original as a kid, and I'll probably get this... but after I discovered Warhammer, it's apparent these are poorly disguised copies. I think I read that Blizzard was first contracted to make a Warhammer game.

Zerg = Tyranids
Protoss = Tau
Terran = Space Marines, except rednecks

The same was true for the Warcraft series, but they've really branched out, especially with WoW. They've already ripped the Dreadnought and Jetpack Marine concepts for this new one. Can they really make this their own game, or will it be a more popular, less good version of Dawn of War?

Warcraft is entirely ripped off of everything else. There's not an iota of originality to it. But that's any blizzard game.

True. Elves, Orcs, Humans, Undead, etc are nothing new, but Blizzard didn't even try for some diversity.

Not to mention, Christ, the protoss even look exactly like the Tau, blue wrinkled faces and all.

Then what does that make Warcraft and its fans? Faggot clones? Dawn of War was an amazing game, and with every expansion they release a new race (or two) and new units for every side.

I want to like Starcraft, I really do. Maybe their storyline will win out, but if they're not even going to try to be creative with their races and unit designs, it's hard to like it.

Also, Warhammer 40K (the future one) was made into a kickass strategy game, and Warhammer (the boring fantasy one) was made into a cruddy RTS, and soon to be a cruddy MMO.

I haven't a clue. I had a friend in high school who mentioned something about it but he hid his nerdiest tendencies pretty well.

My friend and I got into Mageknight and Warhammer, just because it was fun to paint them and set them up. No desire to really play the game.

Also, don't forget funyuns and cheetos.
