Old Aug 5th, 2003, 05:33 PM        Fuck you, SideshowToy.com >:
I was going to get S-Mart Ash for my birthday.

Dear James,
Sideshow's credit card policy is that the name and address on the credit card must
match the name and delivery address of your order. If the card name and address do
not match address there will be a delay in processing your order. If you wish to mail to an alternate address or use someone else’s card, Sideshow requires that the cardholder
fax a signed letter authorizing their credit card to be used. The fax number this
letter should be sent to is 805-418-1971. We need to receive this letter by the 14th of August or your order will be canceled. Thank you for your cooperation.

The credit card is my mom's, who has the same last name and address as me. She was buying it for me as a present. Why this would be a problem for them to understand, I don't know. And would someone tell me how the fuck you're supposed to write a letter "authorizing their credit card to be used?"

That's ridiculous. What business is it of theirs who is receiving the item? And furthermore, what kind of retarded criminal is going to use his own name to order something with a credit card, much less an action figure? All i ever put is Peter J. Parker, it's good for filtering your junk mail. :alias

I can understand why they would be doing this, to an extent.

SideshowToy.com deals with a lot of high-priced items, so they want to make sure someone isn't purchasing them through illegal means. But when the last name and address match (the two things they said there was a problem with), I don't understand why they must be forced to cancel my order.

I still don't know how we're supposed to fax them authorization. "Dear SideshowToy.com. Please allow my son to use my credit card to buy a birthday present I was getting for him." Complete with a signature they cannot confirm as being legit.

Seriously, what the fuck? And WHY do I have to wait so fucking long to try again. I hope I can change my address information to her name after this is all done with.

For those of you who aren't sure what James is trying to say, he's telling all of you to go to that site right now and place an order because they have his stamp of approval.

This has happened to me before because i have a PO BOX. And since my billing address is that and if it is shipped UPS or FedEx the addresses won't match. What you need to do is specify that your billing and mailing addresses are different

I tried to place another order, using my mother's name in the billing address. I figure the first order would be cancelled, and this new one would be alright.

S-Mart Ash isn't even showing up for me anymore. I don't know if it's a cookie, or if they took it down, or what. But now I'm REALLY mad. So, if anyone visits the site, and do a search for "Ash," and let me know if S-Mart Ash shows up, that'd be great.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go set some houses on fire. :RAGE

Jamesman, why don't you just put your mom's name on the billing address AND shipping address? That way, you'll still get it and there'll be no problem with the order.

Or do you think she'll dance with glee when it comes and rip the packaging open rather than give it to you first? :/

EDIT: See? This is what happens when you forget to hit the Submit button for 30 mins because you go take a shit, then start watching TV.

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.

oh, the embarrassment...

I don't want to change any of my account information at this time. I sent a message to their customer service asking what I should do, because I don't want to fuck anything up without it being their fault.

If they tell me it's OK to change the billing address, then I will.

By the way, my name isn't IN the billing address. It's in my customer account information. They just automatically decide that that will be the name in the billing address, because they're a bunch of whores.

I had the same problem with SurvivalStore.com, but in my case it was because I was under 18 and had a trust thing on a new account in my mother's name. And her last name is different.

It's still gay and retarded, though. Why would they even ask if they can't do it?

You could always just move out of your mommy's house, get your own card, and/or quit being such a P-boy.

Why would anyone else spend money on him?

Anyway, I sent a little customer support e-mail the other day, aso I said. I asked if I could just change the name on the billing address to match the credit card, or if I HAD to fax a letter, what it should consist of. Over 24 hours later, I've gotten no response. If I still don't get anything by tomorrow afternoon, I'll call in or fax the letter (as best as I can guess the letter should have in it).

My main concern is that I get that figure. It's really unsettling when they won't even let me SEE it on their site anymore.

James, take your business elsewhere.
Don't support a store that gives you an attitude for wanting to simply buy something from it.

I'm gonna call them on Saturday. If they tell us what they need in a letter of authorization, I'll fucking send it their way and get my fucking toy.

But really. They give me this shit, and they still haven't responded to my customer service e-mail. They won't even let me see the toy.

The asskicker would be if the figure gets sold out, and they charge me anyway. That's when I go set a nursery school on fire. But yeah, I'm definitely not deal with them again after I get this figure.

I went to their website, and I couldn't find that toy, either.
So, I went to Google and did a search, and there are other places to buy it....

Oh, I see, Sideshow is the one that manufactured it?

You can buy it here. :/

Comic stores are nonexistent here, Chimp. They all vanished a couple years ago. Seriously. Besides, they'd inflate the price to make a profit.

Anyway, I finally got a response, saying they changed the billing name to my mom's. Uh, OK... Great, so does that mean I get my fucking toy or not? I'll probably have to wait another 4 days for the answer.

And you didn't see the toy on there either? Did anyone see it?

Edit: Anyway, I looked at some other sites. The problem comes down to trust. When you pop onto a random "store" selling items, you don't know how safe it's going to be. And if they're getting these toys from Sideshow, you don't know if they're actually going to have them (especially when Sideshow fucking takes down the item, for God-knows-why).

Are there any Newbury Comics stores near you?
If they don't have it, I bet they can get it for you.
But they only have 25 stores....

11 days later:

During this time, I checked my billing order, to see that the name on it was NOT changed as the bitch said it was. She then said I still needed to send in a letter of authorization. Yeah, great. hen she said it AGAIN (I don't know why. I didn't send in another e-mail. Stupid whore).

So we whipped up a letter, and faxed it... only to receive a call, saying that the item was already being shipped, and we didn't need to write a letter. Yeah. The next day, I got an e-mail saying that everything was cleared, and NOW it was being shipped.

And just now, I got it. One S-Mart Ash, perfect condition. Not even a sticker of this wretched company on the box. But I'll be damned if I ever deal with these people again.

On a more mysterious note. The box contained those little packing peanuts. Little white styrofoam figure 8's... except for one. One little pink peanut, with no holes. Just. One. SPOOKY.

I'm gonna eat it.
