Actually man I think there's a certain chip you can get that you don't have to solder to the board - so you can take it off if you want to go online. A pain in the ass for sure, but at least the option is still there. This was like 6 months ago though - there might be better options now. Check that link whoreable gave - best xbox mod related site online.
