Only those of mixed irish decent do that. They need to show off for even the smallest drop of irish blood within them. (I do it also
being only 1/16th Irish)
Pure Irish just raise a salute, and tip back a glass of perfectly normal colored beer. Well... that how it starts with the Irish guys/gals I know, and then things go crazy.
