Old Sep 20th, 2005, 12:05 PM        Bush names Townsend to ivestigate Fed. Katrina response
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S.
President George W. Bush has named his homeland security adviser, Fran Townsend, to lead an internal inquiry into the much-criticized federal response to Hurricane Katrina, the White House said on Tuesday.

Now, didn't ol' W say he was gonna lead the investigation hisself? Didn't he use the words 'personally lead'? I mean that was an impossibly stupid idea to begin with, but he did say it. And if someone knew enough to tell him that wasn't really possible, shouldn't they have told him that hand picking an investigator who is a currently employed member of the body under investigation isn't that much better an idea? And that when he is eventually forced to establish an independant bi-partisan investigation it's just going to look like he stonewalled in orer to cover stuff up even if he didn't stonewall to cover up? I mean, I know ol' W is jes' folks and is a dumb a clod of weeds as ever got force fed through Andover, harvard and Yale with a silver spoon so far down his thrown you could see yourself up his ass, but aren't some of his advisers supposed to be smart-ish?
