I figured out what I don't like about the series. It feels too arcade-y to me. It ends up boiling down to running around amongst tens of enemies, and mashing the attack button over and over. And because of that, things feel repetitive, and very boring without a friend playing with you.
I just wish they'd complicate things just a bit.
