After all this bitching and moaning, what sort of solution do you guys propose? He leave the kid in the dumpster? Give it to a foster home?

He could let his folks raise it, sure, but that might screw the kid up more to learn his brother is his daddy than to have really young parents. And in the end, we don't know how the kid is gonna turn out! You can raise two children the same way and they can be completely different because of their personalities.

No one is completely prepared for parenthood. No adult has every bit of knowledge a child need to become a well-rounded, happy human. SOCIETY, folks. School? But everyone who has a baby, no matter the age or the background, has to do their best and raise the child as they see fit.

As a baby, all it really needs is love and attention (shelter, diaper changes, clothes). Just about any teen can give that if they try hard enough. And because of the added pressure to "do it right" for being a teen parent, he might do better than a normal adult.

As the baby grows, Shifty will no doubt grow, too. You guys seem to think he'll be a teen forever.

I can't say how the relationship between Shifty and the baby mommy will turn out. Lots of teen relationships are meaningless, sure, but there are tons of long-lasting, happy marriages that are between highschool sweethearts. Feh.

Now, show me the asshole who ISN'T confused by life
