Hey, Kev;
Thanks again for providing interesting lunch reading.
I see now why Horowitz omits the motivation for his political about face in his mini bio.
"Having embraced the political agenda of the Black Panthers at the moment of thier most dangerous and violent practice, he felt at least partially responsible for the murder of a colleague he recommended but didn't warn of the Panthers drug dealing and criminal violence, or which he was aware."
That just doesn't sound that good. I mean for a costumed vigilante, maybe, but for a conservative pundit?
Here's what I found most revealing in teh biographical article:
"Lapsed radicals like ourselves are always condemned to regard the left as their Great White Whale," Horowitz and Peter Collier confessed in their 1991 anthology, Deconstructing the Left. "This book is a record of our sightings of the beast. We may not yet have set the final harpoon, but we have given chase."
One is forced to wonder, has he read Moby Dick recently? In chosing to identify with Ahab, he paints himself as a borderline psychotic commited to a pointless obsession with revenge which will ultimately end in his own futile death. I mean, unless I'm thinking of some other Ahab in some other Moby Dick.
