You've answered your own question. Staples with prongs bent outward are for easy removal and for temporary document fastening. Staplers have this function because people use it. You don't need a staple remover to remove staples pounded in such a way, you just have to pull one end - it's like you're just pinning the papers.
As for the resume, I wouldn't hire somebody who didn't know how to use a stapler.
