Personally, I rather dislike the newest slang English which has reached my ears, or eyes as the case may be. Where as older phrases are generally antiquated military jargon -Ex. "the full nine yards"-, allusions to older customs -Ex. "mind your P's and Q's"-, and mostly references to well known works of great literature. Words and phrases were simple, but somewhat interesting when one knew the history behind them.

I discovered more joy when I learned Golf and Fuck were originially short for the phrases "Fornication Under Consent of the King" and "Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden" respectively than I did when I was informed McJob was a simply a minimum wage occupation.
