As for my *real* opinion: holding doors, walking to house, etc. = good. Paying for her before you're a couple = bad. The trick is to have fun and act like it's a privilege for *her* to get to go out with you (treat her nicely but hold back a little).

Oh, and what James said. Short of a major change in your personality or hypnotic suggestion, I can almost guarantee you will not get anywhere with a girl who is a good friend, especially if you are both more than 14 years old. You will get hugs, you will get deep conversation, you might even get to cuddle now and then, but her next boyfriend will likely be a 6'5" football player named Jimbo with a double-digit IQ. Enjoy.
