To level up before you die of old age you get that Apocalypse sword for Cloud with the triple Materia growth and ut the big stuff in it.
In the Northen Cave, in the marsh area, you can fight Magic Pots. If you give them each an elixer you get an assload of EXP and AP. That's how I mastered Mimic without gettting bored to death.
