I did that to a pizza once when I actually worked in a pizza kitchen. There are two ovens and I only used the bottom one when the top one was full, so when I put a pizza in the bottom at one point when there were a lot of orders coming in, I forgot about it when things slowed down and only realized the problem 40 minutes later when it started to smell.
