There's more to that than what they're saying. The fact that they have their own "special" version of a player is just a sign of things that are probably around the corner.

I'm still baffled at why the companies are trying stuff like this. If sound comes out of the speakers, I can record it, digitally or otherwise. Instant copy-protection circumvention.

Still, it's only time until they get sued for this. Their special software meets all the legal definitions for a computer virus, especially if a website full of programmers and geeks who have probably dissected the whole thing say it is.
