Seriously, maybe it's just how he says "hello" nowadays. There are lots of rituals that go on after people reach their year mark and beyond. He probably just wants to experiment. Try different approaches and whatnot. Variety. A few thrills. I'd let it go.
Unless he gets a bang out of it then I'd do what glow says.
