First, I find the comment made by pops regarding this guys allergation that its hard for a black man to make rank to be ricockulous. If I'm not mistaken, all four branches rely on a number of factors, none of which become subjective until you compete for senior NCO.

Anyhow, I am kind of curious as to why the folks around him didn't recognize some signs. Here is a guy with an obvious muslim faith. It could be possible that he would harbour some misgivings about said war. On top of that, include his history, obvious unhappiness with his current situation, etc.

How none of these signs were recognized, even so much so as to give a potentially disgruntled soldier a post guarding ammunition and grenades seems a little negligent to me.
